1 c. water


1/4 c. sugar


1-2 drops red food color

The post with the 4 parts water to 1 part table sugar is right. I use hot water and don't boil it. The sugar will melt just the same. Don't use red dye. There is no reason to when the feeder itself is probably bright enough, and there are studies out there that say that the dye is causing tumors. Why take the chance? My feeders have clear nectar, and the birds still feed like crazy. Take a look at this great site....
4 parts water to 1 part sugar. You have to boil the solution to disolve the sugar. let cool then put in the feeder
