Time of year to take bird feeder down?

I have a double shephard's hook....one hook I have a bird feeder with seed in it, and on the other hook I have corn for the squirrels.

When should I take this down? I haven't seen any squirrels lately but birds are still coming to eat.Time of year to take bird feeder down?
Winter is when the resident birds may need extra help. I usually only put OUT my bird feeder when the weather gets cooler. Sometimes migratory birds stop in on their way south for some extra food, and then through the winter, just the residents are around. I make sure I re-stock with more seed after snowfalls, when it may be harder for them to find their normal diets.Time of year to take bird feeder down?
Bird feeders can and should be left up year round. There's no reason to take them down. Birds will come year round, although you may see different birds at different times of the year.

A birdfeeder will not keep migrating birds from going South for the winter. That's just silly, not to mention ignorant.

Birds benefit from a feeder in the spring when their natural food sources are not yet available. The benefit in the winter when there isn't much natural food available, and the birds will visit your feeder in the spring and fall too. Bear in mind that your feeder is not their sole source of food though. The local birds are visiting neighboring birdfeeders and also spend time looking for natural food sources.
The hummingbird feeders are seasonal if you live in the colder areas..

The other feeders can stay year round it is up to you..

You may be surprised what birds don't migrate. Year round residents are well worth the effort to keep the feeders out for.. In one day I counted 32 different varieties of birds in my yard.. and seeing a flock of cardinals feeding in the snow is something I look forward to every year..

I'm with Cat. We put our bird feeders out in the winter, after the bears

have gone into hibernation, and after the migratory hawks have left.

When it gets real cold, we add suet to the tree where the bird feeders are. This keeps them a little warmer then just filling their belly's
you take down the b feeder when bird migration begins in your area.

So they don't stay, and fly south.

Then after migration is over you can put it back up if you have birds breeds that stay the winter.
