I have trouble with birds eating my out-door dog's food. They flock to my patio and feast... meanwhile pooing all over my patio and lawn furniture. Do you have any suggestions? Do you think putting a bird feeder away from my patio will help or just draw more birds to my lawn? Help! Will a bird-feeder help stop the birds from eating my dog's food?
Probably just draw more birds.
Try getting one of those self feeders for your dog that way the birds can't access it easily. Will a bird-feeder help stop the birds from eating my dog's food?
Once birds have discovered a food source, they will stick to it! The feeder will draw some away, but more to your yard. The best thing to do is not put out a constant supply of dog food. Maybe feed your pet 2 x a day, and empty whatever is left over. No food supply = no birds.
it may help... something else that may help is getting a plastic owl.. tiny animals are scared of this~! get one that moves or a bobble head one .. it will work untill they find out it'S fake!
My dog is big, and I do have a bird feeder, my dad buys this big giant dog food pellets, but the water well... we have 3 water bowls for the dog. so as long you have something the birds cant grab on, you'll be fine, and a lot of grains/ cereals for the birds, they will be eating %26amp; eating.
Won't help at all as I have tried this.
The only thing I have figured out to do is to feed my dogs later in the day when the birds seem to have gone to ';roost'; and this seems to work better and it appears that I am feeding less and less birds.
This frees up some of my time with my morning ritual of feeding not only my dogs but my own chickens and ducks.
Now if I could only figure out how to keep the same birds out of my chicken/duck feed. . . I've tried everything and am only hoping that my own birds eat the most of the feed and that the free world birds only get the left overs.
Feed the dog in the house or don't give them free range for food. Feed them once in the morning and when they don't finish it, remove it for the day and offer it again at night. It is much healthier for dogs to have meals then to snack all day whenever they feel like it anyway.
