I love animals and I dont want to hurt this cat, heck I put up the bird feeder for my cats to watch birds, they love it. But......this big old grey cat hunts it, he took a little red finch out the other day. I saw it, just disgusted me! I don't want to 'bait' the birds but I love having my bird feeder...help! How can I get rid of this cat without hurting him?I have put up a bird feeder and I have a cat stalking it?
There is a spray you can spray on your fence, patio, wherever that cats don't like. I use it on my coach. It works.I have put up a bird feeder and I have a cat stalking it?
hmm not really sure i would try the water that the 1st answer just do it every time u c it he will give up soon i would think
move it and the cat may not find it. and when it does keep moving it.
Put the bird feeder up high enough he can't get to it! or call the animal control people out and have them trap the cat in a cage and have him taken to the animal shelter.
hang the feeder on a clothesline or something else cats dont go up on... hanging from trees is a bad idea ;)
Is it possible to put some kind of body of water beneath the bird feeder? So it's right in the middle of this water? Cat's don't like water so it's unlikely it'll go in.
You can also purchase something at a pet store (maybe even Walmart) that prevents a cat from going in that spot. Not sure what it's called, but it's in the pet aisle.
Sorry I couldn't be more help.
Maybe you can trap him and get him declawed?
Put the bird feeder on a high metal post.
get a bb gun, use like 2 pumps and shoot the cat in the butt. pretty soon they wont bother the birds. the bb wont hurt too bad, just a stinging like a wasp or bee.
try spraying with water, ie the garden hose
Call animal control--meanwhile it is not really ethical to put out a baited trap (for the birds).
Is he someone's pet? You might trap him with a live cage. (They don't hurt animals) to take him to the pound if he's not someone's pet. Otherwise, maybe move the bird feeder up higher so the birds aren't so close to the ground. If that doesn't work, and this cat is still stalking the birds, you may consider romoving it all together and getting some pet birds for your cat's to watch in doors.
hang feeder more than two feet off the ground or it becomes a cat feeder.
