I Have A Bird Feeder, But Birds Never Come To It. I've Seen One Or Two, But Hardly Any. It Is One Of The Best Bird Feeds They Sell Out There And I Have A Brand New Bird Feeder. How Do You Attract More Birds To Your Feeder? How Do You Get Birds To Come To Your Bird Feeder?
Here are some (hopefully) helpful ideas. First, take into consideration the location of your bird feeder. Make sure it is in an area that the birds will feel secure (not too close to a window, not too close to a fence). Birds especially love a feeder that is close to a tree or two. They will hop from the tree to the feeder. They also get security and shelter from trees, which may draw them to your feeder. Make sure the seed you are using is one that the birds in your area prefer to eat. An all around good choice is black oil sunflower seed, or if you can find it, Pacific No-Waste blend is great because it does not contain millet which is a big time filler. I did not have birds in my yard at all until this year. I had two feeders up last year and only remember seeing two birds at them. Come to find out, not only were the feeders in a bad location, I honestly believe the bright colors of the feeders deterred the birds. Sooo, I took them down before winter. The first step I took was to plant some bird-friendly trees in my yard. I then simply spread sunflower seed on the ground to try and attract some ';easy feeders'; like doves and sparrows. After I had an established bird bunch coming to feed, I hung two feeders (no more bright colors, just natural wood) next to the trees in my yard. Within a few days, some of the ground feeding birds were using them, as well as some newcomers. It can take a few months to really get some regular customers, but it is worth the wait. Good luck!!How Do You Get Birds To Come To Your Bird Feeder?
Make sure it`s away from your house. Also if there`s cats around you won`t see very many birds either, plus if you put it up in the winter you`ll need to wait till spring they will come around, just give them time to discover it.
well it isnt just the matter of the food its also the appeal just like humming birds are attracted to red. birds are attracted by a certain color and also where its warm and quiet hope this helps
Try putting food in it. Also spread some around the surrounding area. If your bird feeder sticks on a window move it to a more calm area.
Find out what types of birds are common in your area and then find out what they like to eat and which feeders they prefer. For example, finches like to eat nyjer seed out of feeders with small holes so that the seed doesn't fall out. Woodpeckers like suet in a cage. Chickadees like sunflower seed any way they can get it.
Most importantly, make sure your feeder is in a good place.
Birds like a feeder to be close to trees so that they can jump back into the tree at the first sign of danger. If you don't have dense forest, you're not going to ever get certain types of bird.
I think the most successful type of feeder is one that lets the food out into a trey or trough, if you don't mind squirrels.
It's not about getting the ';best seed'; it's about catering to the birds in your area. It's not about having the ';best feeder'; it's about having a feeder your birds enjoy in a good place.
good luck.
oh, i don't know...try putting food in it!
