How long should you keep your bird feeder out?

I've been feeding wild birds for some time now and I was wondering if their was a time where you would have to put away the birdfeeder.How long should you keep your bird feeder out?

If you are going to take it down, you should do it in the spring so they have time to find other food sources. My boyfirend's dad takes them down in the spring and puts them up in the fall because he gets cleaned out too quickly in the summer and they have other ways to eat then. Don't take it down in fall or winter, if you have had it up they may have become dependent on it and its not fair to force them to start foraging when there isn't as much to find.





If you aren't having problems, just leave it up.
