How do you get birds to come to a bird feeder?

The birds will find it. Once a couple do the others will see them and before you know it you will have dozens all the time. How do you get birds to come to a bird feeder?
first you throw bread crumbs on the ground around your feeder , to get them used to being fed in that area , then they'll see your feeder and start eating from thereHow do you get birds to come to a bird feeder?
Whenever I put a feeder in a new location of the yard, I sprinkle some on the ground around it and along the ledge where they perch, etc. to let them know it's there. I use the mix for wild songbirds with sunflower seeds, etc. and have a good variety of birds all year long. I have noticed that there are a few that fly in during the day, but for the most part, I get the most activity in the afternoons.
Put food in it.
Depends on the type of bird you are looking for. Some birds prefer to feed from the ground.

You should go to the library and ask for an ornithological field guide. It will tell you what birds are native to your area, how to identify them, what they like to eat, and the conditions in which they prefer to breed and feed.
I started by putting some bread crumbs on the ground . As the birds start to gather , like after a few days of doing this , put a trail of crumbs leading to feeder with the most part under the feeder mixed with some of the birdseed . It took them notime to find the bird feeder as they perched in the tree to drop to the ground to get to the bread crumbs .
be sure its in a convenient area where there is no threatening things around and put a lot of yummy food in it!
put bird food in it? make sure there are no cats about either
Give them a lot of time. Birds only get used to food in one place after some 3 weeks. Make sure there are no moving object that would scare them, like flapping curtains or animals like cats and dogs that would chase them.
