Has anyone ever made a homemade Bird Feeder out of net?

The squirrels has torn down another one of my hanging bird houses... This is getting expensive.


Some where I heard you can put bird seed in a bag and hang it...


Thats in a certain kind of bag that the birds can get to the seeds.


What kind of bag could I use.

Those bags that garlic and onions come in come in handy. The down side is that the smaller seeds like to fall through. You can add egg white to your mix and bake them at 100 F for 20 minutes (or until well set) to prevent them from falling through. Also, you can use nylon stockings with small holes ripped into them. That way the birds can reach and see the food inside.

get a burlap sack.
You can use one of the mesh bags that onions and garlic come in. Any kind of bag with wide enough mesh for the birds to pull the seed through will do.
